DR. SCOTT JOHNSTON
Dr. Scott Johnston is a board certified anesthesiologist and fellowship trained expert in pain management. In 1990, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at the State University Health Sciences Center in Syracuse, New York. He then served as the Director of Anesthesia Services at Cherry Point Naval Hospital and Assistant Director at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. Dr. Johnston entered fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center for the study of pain medicine in 1994. He has practiced pain medicine exclusively as Director of Johnston Pain Management since 1995. Dr. Johnston also serves in leadership positions at Onslow Memorial Hospital, including Chief of Staff. He is board certified by The American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Society of Anesthesiology.
DR. SHARON DRESBACH
Dr. Sharon Dresbach is a clinical psychologist with a doctorate and specialty training in the area of behavioral medicine, including the psychological study of pain and medical disorders. She received her Ph.D. at State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed her internship training at Yale-West Haven VA Medical Center. She has had several clinical appointments specializing in the management of acute and chronic pain and psychological disorders related to medical conditions. Dr. Dresbach is also responsible for a number of original research papers in the areas of pain and depression. She joined Johnston Pain Management in 1996.
DR. ERIN CHANEY
Dr. Erin Chaney joined Johnston Pain Management in 2012. She is a board certified anesthesiologist and a fellowship-trained pain specialist. She completed her residency in anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center, where she served as teaching scholar and was awarded graduate resident of the year. She then went on to specialty training in pain management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the North Carolina Medical Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
DR. JOHN HOLDER
Dr. John Holder completed his residency in anesthesiology at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle in 2013. He then went on to specialty fellowship training in pain management at Duke University, where he won best clinical abstract in 2013 at the annual Carolina Pain Society meeting. He is a member of the Carolina Pain Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
LINDSAY SMITH, PA-C
Lindsay Smith, PA-C is a nationally certified physician assistant trained in Buffalo, NY. She received her Bachelors of Science in Biology and Physician Assistant Studies at D’Youville College. Mrs. Smith has practiced at Johnston Pain Management since October 2007. She is a member of the North Carolina Physician Assistant Association and the American Academy of Pain Management. She has special interests in myofascial pain syndromes and is skilled in injection therapy.
JESSICA L. FOLEY, PA-C
Jessica L. Foley, PA-C is a nationally certified physician assistant from Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Carlow University in 2008 and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Duquesne University in 2011. Jessica has practiced at Johnston Pain Management since January 2012. Ms. Foley has special interests in interventional therapy and surgical care.
RACHEL BENNETT, PA-C Hidden
Rachel Bennett, PA-C joined Johnston Pain Management in 2013 and is a nationally certified physician assistant by the NCCPA. She received her Bachelors of Science in Applied Health Science from Wheaton College (IL) and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Pain Society of the Carolinas, and the North Carolina Medical Society. She enjoys mission work and has volunteered in hospitals and rural clinics in Swaziland and South Africa. Mrs. Bennett has special interests in orthopedics and holistic medicine.
Karma Williams, FNP-C joined Johnston Pain Management in 2019 as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is a nationally certified nurse practitioner by the AANP. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Joseph College and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 2007 and her Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner studies from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to completion of her master’s degree Karma, Joined Johnston Pain Management as a Registered Nurse in 2011. Mrs. Williams’ special interests are in interventional therapy, pain management and surgical care and management.
Mr. Bruce Miller is a nationally board-certified Physician Assistant with a special interest in pain management. He successfully completed his medical training at the Touro College School of Health Sciences on Long Island, NY. Prior to joining Johnston Pain Management as a full time provider, Mr. Miller worked as a PA in emergency medicine, trauma services, urgent care medicine and in family practice.
